Once you sign your contract and submit a 30% deposit, our team is confirmed for your date, and the fun begins!
You’ll receive our H+MU Questionnaire to work on throughout the months leading up to your preview session. We think it's “fun homework” and hope you enjoy filling it out as much as we love reading your responses (yes, we are total beauty nerds). But you’ll see, it’s a great tool that helps us learn more about you, your wedding style, and of course, your beauty goals. And not to worry, if you don’t actually know what you want, aside from looking amazing, that’s what we are here for.
Which brings me to… the Preview Session! We will invite you to our daylight studio about 6-10 weeks before your wedding day, where you’ll meet your Lead Hair and Makeup Artists, and our Founder, Stefanie. We will spend about 3 hours designing your hair and makeup look(s) together - don’t worry, we have plenty of snacks!
We consider your preview session similar to a dress rehearsal. That’s one reason why we schedule them closer to the wedding. It’s also why we don’t use the term “trial.” We aren’t simply trialing some look you found on Pinterest (that’s most likely filtered, airbrushed, or maybe even AI) or a trend on TikTok.
We encourage minimal or maximum involvement - it’s all about what feels right to you.
Instead, we will review your questionnaire and offer experienced feedback, ideas, and guidance before even picking up a brush. By understanding why you chose certain inspo photos, we will design a hair and makeup look that celebrates your vision and your individuality. There is no "right way" or step-by-step guide. Our approach values innate artistry, technique, and personalization
After the preview session, we follow up and always encourage feedback after “living in the look.” That way, we can make any requested adjustments and edits to ensure your look is exactly as you’d like it for the wedding. BONUS: You will leave the studio with a minimum of 50 airdropped photos + videos of your look from every angle!
Our Wedding Day Timeline questionnaire comes next. It’s much less involved, promise! You or your planner will fill in the answers, and from there, we will draw up a H+MU schedule for you to review. Based on the requested end time for H+MU, we will work backwards to recommend artist arrival and start time. It’s helpful to note our general guideline for beauty prep: 1.5 hours per service for you, the bride, and 45 minutes per service for your family and friends.
Once the schedule and timeline are confirmed, you’ll receive our Final Info Form with ALL your information in one beautiful place. Our Final Info Form is my favorite form of all, in case you were wondering.
Every important location, phone #, start + end time, additional events, preview session photos, notes/edits, H+MU schedule, Day-of-Contact info, remaining balance — you get the idea — is on this form. It’s a live document, as are all of our forms, so we can always adjust at any point, and both you and our team will have the update.
Last but not least, once everything is confirmed and payment is received, you’ll receive our very detailed H+MU Prep List for you to share with anyone receiving services from our team.
For example, your friend has curly hair and wants to know if she can use her natural curls in the up-style. Your sister has a favorite eye shadow she MUST use. Everyone is wondering what they should do about lips! (PS: we make our own line of custom Pre-Dame Beauty lips so each person receives one to keep!) All of these answers and more can be found in this handy prep email.
And that’s it! I know, I know, that’s enough!
Rest assured, most of this communication happens in the 3-4 months leading up to the wedding. Once you’ve signed the contract + submitted the deposit, we leave you alone for quite a while. We will send a “friendly reminder” to get working on your H+MU Questionnaire if we haven’t seen it completed, but hopefully you’ll be happy it’s finally time to jump into all-things-beauty!
